BONISWA UBUHLE BENDALO ANNOUNCES THE CAPE TOWN PRINT FAIR - A NEW ARTIST-DRIVEN PLATFORM

Boniswa Ubuhle Bendalo is proud to introduce the Cape Town Print Fair, a three-day celebration of printmaking, illustration, zines, and independent publishing taking place from 27–29 March 2026. Featuring 50 independent artists, the fair aims to create an accessible, community-centred space where the public can discover, collect, and connect directly with the makers shaping South Africa’s print culture.
As Cape Town continues to shape its identity as the creative capital of Africa, the fair offers a new avenue for accessible art engagement, one that prioritises affordability, collaboration, and artist empowerment. Unlike large commercial fairs, the Cape Town Print Fair is built from the ground up by artists and community members, ensuring that creativity, not corporate exclusivity, sits at the heart of the experience.
“Printmaking is one of the most democratic art forms,” says Breeze Yoko, Artistic and Executive Director of the fair. “It allows artists to reach new audiences and gives the public a chance to own meaningful, original art. Cape Town deserves a dedicated platform for this one that uplifts independent artists and strengthens our creative economy.”
The fair will include:
· Artist market: 50 exhibitors offering prints, zines, artist books, textiles, illustrated objects and limited editions.
· Live demos: Linocut, letterpress, screen printing, and digital-to-analog workflows.
· Talks and panels: Artist business tools, collecting art on a budget, and the storytelling power of zines.
· Family workshops: Hands-on printmaking sessions for children and parents.
· Live entertainment: DJs, acoustic sets, and a collaborative mural.
The full exhibitor line-up will be announced in February 2026, along with details on the venue and participating partners.
At its core, the Cape Town Print Fair is about building a central hub for print culture, a grassroots event that empowers artists, nurtures creativity, and gives the community a unique opportunity to discover, collect, and support original art.
Exhibitor applications open on 28 January and close on 23 February 2026.
